Sandgate Sea & Food Festival
A fun day for all the family, Bank Holiday Sunday – 28th August, 2011, 12 noon - 6pm
Now an established annual event, the Sandgate Sea and Food Festival will once again provide residents and visitors alike with their August Bank holiday entertainment. The Steering Group have worked tirelessly to ensure that every form is correctly submitted, law is observed, licenses secured and, of paramount importance, the health and safety of all protected.
The event kicks off on the Saturday evening with live music and the ever popular fireworks followed on the Sunday with the children enjoying the antics of stilt walkers, a juggler, a Punch and Judy show, Morris Dancing and the Oopsy Daisy Party Bus that will be parked in the lay-by opposite the Village Stores. Adults will also find a wealth of entertainment with events on land and water.
You can enjoy the tastes of Sandgate, with Spanish Tapas from Tintos, Mexican Fajitas from Escondido, Nepalese dishes from the Gurkha Palace, delicious bread and pies from the Sandgate Master Baker on the rowing club balcony or pints of prawns and moules mariniere from The Ship Inn washed down with some fine real ales from their famous beer festival. You will be able to select your cut of meet from the Old Hall farm, Brookland stall and have it cooked on a BBQ.
As well as enjoying a great day of fun and promoting our village by the sea, we will be raising money for our chosen charity which this year includes the RNLI.
